overstuff)
Row 14:  SC in the next stitch, decrease through the next 2 stitches to make a SC (repeat until beginning marker)
Row 15:  decrease through the next 2 stitches to make a SC  (repeat until beginning marker)

Sew both ends shut

STALKS:
NOTE:  You will need a yarn needle.

Cut a length of the red yarn that you are comfortable with for sewing where it doesn’t tangle while you’re working with it.  Cut.  (For me, that’s stretching my arms side to side).

Attach yarn needle to one end.  Insert through bottom of sphere, push to any spot on the sphere you would like to place a Stalk.  Pull through, leaving a couple of inches hanging out the bottom of the sphere.

For each stalk:
1.      Place crochet hook through a space adjacent to where the red yarn emerges on the sphere, pull up a loop of red yarn.
2.      Chain 5
3.      SC in 2nd chain from sphere then pull through (keep lengthening the loop using the hook) the remaining yarn with the yarn needle on it (note: if you don’t like to fidget with this, you could remove the yarn needle and reapply it)
4.      Use Yarn needle (place hook aside) to run the remaining red yarn into the source hole for the stalk, then point needle to a new location where you would like a stalk to appear.

Example: Crochet hook in next stitch before pulling up yarn that was just pushed through with the yarn needle.
Pulled through a bit of yarn to create a loop

First chain stitch

Example of leaving yarns out the bottom of the sphere.  When done, Pull snugly on all yarns and snip.  Floof the ball to shape and the ends will disappear into the ball!
